After finishing her free skating the 2011 Grand Prix Final bronze medalist Alena Leonova gripped hands on her knee and couldn't even make a proper bow, as she was unable to bend her leg and stand on it firmly. Leonova appeared before reporters with ice bound to her knee.
Q: What has happened to your knee?
A: I hit it when I fell on the Lutz.
Q: How grave can this injury be?
A: Now it's just very painful, and I cannot straighten my leg. But I think it's going to be all right. The thing is, when I fell, it was my knee that bore the brunt. And my left knee is very vulnerable, because I have a lump there. That's why while doing a spin I was even thinking whether I should stop and have a little rest, because my knee was hurting so much. But then I decided to skate the program to the end.
Q: You fell almost in the very beginning. How could you suffer the pain to the end of your skating?
A: Evidently I was in a kind of shock and was trying not to think about it.
