European Championships. Alena Wins The Small Bronze Medal In The Free Skating!
The last competitive day of Europeans has concluded in Bern. Having
performed her free program with breathtaking emotions, Alena moved 8 places up
and came in 5th.
Yesterday’s short program had left Alena no choice but to skate her free
program cleanly and try to move up in the final standings as high as possible.
The 7th starting number (first in the warm-up) only complicated the
task, because it meant that Alena couldn’t expect a high components score. On
the other hand, it was maybe easier to come to the ice long before the leaders.
Alena started her free skating with a magnificent 3T+3T. Then followed a 3L, 3Lo,
3F+2T. A crack in the ice prevented Alena from doing the 3S in the three jump
combination, she doubled it. Apart from a minor slip-up on the landing of her
3F, Alena made no more mistakes on the jumps. Maybe it was because Alena was
too overcome with emotions on the step sequence, that it was given only the 1st
level. Her 55.34 was the 3rd ‘tecnical’ result of the day. The PCS was expectedly low, 50.57.
The total
FS score, 105.91, gave Alena the 3rd place in the free skating and
the small bronze medal of the
tournament.
Skating of Alena’s rivals from the last two warm-ups wasn’t perfect, which
allowed her to move from the 13th to the 5th place.
