Today, on the first day of the Russian Championships, the draw of the participants for the short programs and short dance was held in the Saransk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Just like last year, Alena will skate her short program second.
During the Grand Prix Final Alena’s coach Nikolai Morozov told in an interview that Alena might skip the Nationals to heal her injured leg, which had been disturbing her since the beginning of the season. But on Alena’s returning from Canada the final decision was made not to miss the main Russian event of the year:
‘As for now, my leg isn’t troubling me. I am in a good shape, I’m eager to participate in the Russian Nationals in Saransk and to contend for my place in the national team’.
Alena commented on her decision in an interview to the All Sport news agency:
