Rostelecom Cup 2011Home » ISU Grand Prix - Rostelecom Cup 2011 - November, 25-27 - Moscow, RussiaRostelecom Cup, the 6th and last event of this year’s Grand Prix series, will take place in Moscow’s Megasport ice palace, November 25-27. Alena will participate in the home event for the 4th time. The tournament has been both lucky (in 2009 she won her first Grand Prix medal in Moscow) and unlucky (the last year’s Rostelecom Cup saw her worst performance of that season) for Alena. But since she has perfectly managed to overcome the ‘home ice effect’ at April’s Worlds in Moscow, we have a reason to believe that this time the cheering of Russian fans will affect Alena’s performance only in a positive way. The event will name the six Grand Prix finalists. Alena is currently 7th with 20 points. To make the final she needs to improve the situation. Besides Alena, two other skaters are going to strive for a place among the top six: Adelina Sotnikova (Russia) and Mao Asada (Japan). Making the final isn’t a matter of the utmost importance for Alena, because the final will take place in Canada, which means more long flights and more time needed to get in shape before Russian Nationals, which is a more important competition for Alena this season. So, her main goal in Moscow is to show Russian fans a decent and clean performance. She has already shown it at the previous events, but only in one of the two programs. Now she only has to gather everything together. Alena is quite capable of that. Ladies’ field: Amelie LACOSTE (CAN), Kiira KORPI (FIN), Mao ASADA (JPN), Haruka IMAI (JPN), Sofia BIRYUKOVA (RUS), Alena LEONOVA (RUS), Adelina SOTNIKOVA (RUS), Rachael FLATT (USA), Christina GAO (USA), Agnes ZAWADZKI (USA) The event’ schedule: November, 25 15:00 – 16:20 ladies, short program 16:35 – 17:45 pairs, short program 18:00 – 18:30 opening ceremony 18:45 – 20:05 men, short program 20:25 – 21:45 short dance November, 26 14:00 – 15:30 ladies, free skating 15:45 – 17:10 pairs, free skating 17:25 – 19:10 men, free skating 19:25 – 21:05 free dance November, 27 14:00 – 14:20 victory ceremony 14:35 – 15:30 exhibition gala, first part 15:45 – 17:00 exhibition gala, second part
