Olympic day-off :)
Hi, everybody! I think it’s time for me to tell you something interesting)

On Tuesday we had a day-off. On the night before Ksenia and I had desided to devote our free hours to a woman’s habitual pastime, shopping.

In the morning we woke up a little later than usual. At breakfast we met my coach and no sooner we did it, our plans for the day went awry. The case was that on seeing us she immediately announced that she had ordered a car to take us to the ocean at 11 o’clock. Ksenia and I exchaned glances and understood that our shopping wasn’t on the cards. So, we hung our heads down and went to our room to prepare for the trip. Of course, we bundled up, because with oceans you never know what to expect. It might be windy there, and we didn’t want to catch cold. So, we even equiped with our caps) The weather wasn’t sunny, I would even have called it grim. The face of the girl in the car seemed familiar, and indeed she was one of the Russian spectators who attended our practices. Ania had a very nice and stylish car.

The way to the ocean took quite a while, about 50 minutes. But on the plus side, the weather kept improving as we were driving, and when we arrived to our destination, it became not just warm, but hot. We left the car and looked around. Ksenia and I, of course, wanted to go to the waterside at once, but Alla Yakovlevna for some reason headed for shops, and we followed her. We didn’t like the shops much, as they rather resembled a marketplace. Having realised that we weren’t interested, we decided to take some photos. I adopted a pathetical pose saying ‘Alas! That’s how the day began’, and Ksenia postured hugging a road sign)

When at last Alla Yakovlevna left the shop, we asked her permission to go to the beach. On the way there we were taking pictures of everything, including flowerbeds, seagulls and the railroad following the coastline at abot 40 meters.

Our spirits rose, we were not so bored as we had expected when leaving for the ocean. The water, of course, was cold. We took a few more pictures there and went on a walk along a pier. That was when Ksenia felt so hot that she doffed herself to the T-shirt, but I didn’t venture on doing the same. Walking along the pier, we saw a huge white rock and approached it hoping to take more photos. It turned out that it was a historic rock. I didn’t quite understand everything that was written on the tablet, so I snapped it in order to translate the legend later, when I have time.

I pawed the rock but didn’t dare to climb, it seemed too dangerous injury-wise. Meanwhile, we’ve been out for two hours already. Ania asked us if we felt like going somewhere else, and we told her that we’d like to buy some mementos and visit a hypermarket. So, our morning plans came to life.

I had hardly looked into my ‘Whom to bring what’ list, when we turned to a parking place. We had only 45 minutes left for shopping, because we wanted to return to the hotel by the beginning of men’s short program. Ania showed us to a shop selling mementos with Olympic logos. We stocked up, then set the meeting time and parted. Ksenia and I headed for a closing store at once and spent quite a while there.

When there was ten minutes left, we dropped in a Starbucks, ordered tasty fruit ice tea and went to the car, content with how we’d spent our time. That’s how the day-off came to an end. Though it had started with dissappointment, we found things to gladden ourselves)

Next time you’ll hear from me, it will be from the Olympic village. So, tarry for it… impatiently, as always!)))

Hello Alena. Here in Brazil we do not have snow, we do have a lot of sun, samba and soccer. Not know what are the sports of ice. but one TV channel broadcast the Olympics in Vancouver, and because of that we are all in love with you. Look, when a Brazilian man says it, is to believe, because one thing we have here are very beautiful women, congratulations on this your beautiful smile, and this radiant energy. Tell Ksenia we like her a lot too, and she needs a blog like this. Do not forget to send reminders to all of us Brazilians. Kisses.

Wow, Brazilian invasion here!
I was searching for a pic of you for my post about the Olympic Games, as it seems to me, nobody could represent the "Olympic Spirit" better than you. Your radiance after having given your best was simply indescribable!
So I found your blog. It's so interesting to read about a top sports woman doing usual things, not "only" triple toes :)
It was a pity I couldn't hear your voice. The guy of the tv was talking all the time! But at least I heard Ksenia saying "Cheburashka" :))
By the way, you were given too many Cheburashkas, you could give me one of them!
Kidding :))
You remind me why the Russian people are one of my very favorite :)
Alena, thanks for the unforgetable presentation you showed me and the whole world, I'm sure your smile made the hearts of many of us beat faster with happiness!
Have a beautiful time :)

Hi Alena, I know that I´m one more brazilian guy, but you did many fans here. Congratulation!!!
So i´m amazed with your perfomance and specially so amazed with you. You have a nice smile and one thing that is simple but very important ( in portuguese we say ''simpatia'' in english can be: winsomeness, appeal. You are different than others skaters(?) because you transmit emotion and gladness in your moviments. You have a new fan me!
I wish you have a nice year with a great conquest and happiness
